PRX PLUS and Microneedling: First Peer-Reviewed Study Published on Their Combination for Multidimensional Skin Quality Improvement

WiQo announces the first peer-reviewed study on the combined use of PRX PLUS and microneedling for multidimensional skin quality improvement. The pilot study showed significant improvements in texture, pigmentation, redness, pores, sebum levels and wrinkle severity, supporting a promising new protocol for professional skin-quality treatments.

WiQo has announced the publication of the first peer-reviewed scientific article dedicated to the combination of PRX PLUS and microneedling, marking an important step in the scientific validation of combined protocols designed to improve overall skin quality.

The study, entitled “Combined microneedling and PRX PLUS for multidimensional skin quality improvement: A pilot prospective pragmatic study”, was published in the Journal of Dermatologic Science and Cosmetic Technology. It represents an initial structured clinical evaluation of the combined use of microneedling and PRX PLUS in patients presenting signs of photoaging.

A Combined Protocol Targeting Multiple Skin Quality Parameters

Skin quality is not defined by a single parameter. Texture, tone evenness, radiance, pore visibility, redness, sebum levels and wrinkle severity all contribute to the overall perception of healthier, more uniform and revitalized skin.

In this prospective pilot study, 15 women with signs of photoaging underwent three full-face treatment sessions at 21-day intervals, combining microneedling with PRX PLUS.

Assessments were performed at baseline and 15 days after the final session, using high-resolution imaging systems and validated patient-reported outcome tools.

Key Findings of the Study

According to the study, the combined protocol demonstrated statistically significant improvements across multiple skin-quality parameters.

Instrumental assessments showed improvements in:

  • skin texture irregularities;
  • pigmentation irregularities;
  • UV spots;
  • redness;
  • pore visibility;
  • sebum levels;
  • wrinkle severity.

Patient-reported outcomes were also positive. Participants described their skin as smoother and less tired-looking, with greater overall satisfaction regarding their facial appearance.

From a tolerability perspective, the protocol showed a favorable profile. Discomfort was reported as mild to moderate, and no clinically relevant adverse events were observed.

Why This Publication Matters

The publication of a peer-reviewed study is relevant because it moves the discussion beyond product communication and clinical experience, placing the protocol within a more structured scientific framework.

PRX PLUS is known as a professional topical skin booster formulated to support improvements in brightness, skin texture, tone evenness and overall skin appearance. Its combination with microneedling opens an interesting area of clinical application for professionals working on skin quality, photoaging, enlarged pores, uneven skin tone and visible signs of skin aging.

At the same time, it is important to be precise: this is a pilot study conducted on a limited number of patients. The results are promising, but they should be confirmed by larger, controlled clinical investigations. For this reason, the publication should be seen as an important first step in the scientific evaluation of this combined approach, rather than a final conclusion.

Science, Protocols and Professional Practice

For medical aesthetic professionals, the value of this publication lies not only in the reported outcomes, but also in the method: a combined protocol was assessed through instrumental measurements, patient-reported outcomes and safety monitoring.

In aesthetic medicine and advanced skincare, patient demand is increasingly moving toward treatments that improve global skin quality, with natural-looking, progressive and personalized results.

The combination of microneedling and PRX PLUS fits within this direction: a professional protocol designed to work across several dimensions of skin quality, with particular focus on texture, radiance, pores, pigmentation irregularities and signs of photoaging.
